Kariym Azeez, a member of Wheelock College’s Class of 2016, began working as a Wheelock College employee at the age of 16. He started taking classes at the College whenever he could and steadily fulfilled all the requirements for his undergraduate degree. He had originally planned to major in Communications, but says he instead decided to double major in Social Work and Juvenile Justice & Youth Advocacy. He made this decision after a discussion with his field placement supervisor about the desperate need for male mentors for young boys. “My goal is to use the degree and eventually work with youth,” he says. After graduation, Kariym will begin work at the University of Vermont Police Department.
