Samantha Peter, who is majoring in Early Childhood Education and Visual Arts, says she chose Wheelock College because of its mission to improve the lives of children and families. “I have always wanted to be a kindergarten teacher,” she says.
Samantha was invited into the Honors Program and says joining was “probably the greatest thing that I did.” The program comprises a close-knit group of high-achieving students, who are required to maintain a certain GPA and to complete eight Honors-level courses and an Honors research project in their senior year.
Samantha’s Research Project focuses on the creative process in visual art, combining what she has learned in both her teaching and arts majors. She says being involved in Student Government for the last two years has also been a great experience. “It’s helped me figure out who I am and that I can be a leader,” she says. “I’m not someone who’s going to jump up in front a group of people. But it’s helped me to gain confidence….I think everything on campus has helped me do that.”
