The Power of the Match

{0 Comments}

As part of the first annual Wheelock Giving Day, we’re proud to announce that two generous donors have agreed to make a $50,000 gift to Wheelock when 250 individuals make gifts!

Wheelock has a long history of donors challenging or matching gifts to the College. In 2014, we successfully endowed the Susan M. Mackey ’94 Scholarship Fund thanks to a generous two-year match by the Alumni Association Board; the year prior to that we had a series of matches for Wheelock’s 125th anniversary; there have been numerous Senior Class Gift matches; and the list goes on.

But why are matches important to the College and to you as an individual? Simple: They increase the impact of your gift by a huge percent!

Say you’re a young alumna who makes a $5 gift; on any regular day it would be a $5 gift and we’d be more than thankful for your support. However, if 250 alumni make gifts of $5 this March 30 for a total of $1,250, Wheelock will receive an additional $50,000 from our two generous donors. That makes your $5 gift worth 41 times more than the original $5 you gave!

In joining Wheelock community members on campus and around the world in making a gift on March 30, you will help the College successfully move further into our second century of improving the lives of children and families.
