We won’t all be scientists, inventors, engineers, or mathematicians, but we can all be creative, critical thinkers who care about the world around us.

I feel the magic of STEM innovation everyday when I power on my bone anchored hearing aid and suddenly the world wakes up. I feel the magic when I can have real-time conversations with friends in other continents. I feel wonderment when I look at a tree, covered in moss and lichens, and see that it is its own little ecosystem. I don’t quite know how the magic happens, but I’m awestruck and curious.

Usually we don’t take the time to think and wonder. We appreciate that our eggs come in cartons, not that they come from chickens. We’re annoyed when we shiver or sweat, instead of being amazed by our bodies’ ability to maintain equilibrium. I understand, life is crazy and busy, taking a minute to think about our amazing world isn’t the first priority. The Wheelock College Aspire Institute Stem Activity App gives families a chance to stop and think about these types of things. It opens up discussions about STEM topics that are everywhere in our lives.
