“Nurturing the Artist in Each Student: Art from Boston Public Schools” is an annual exhibition at Wheelock’s Towne Art Gallery done in partnership with Boston Public Schools. The 2016 show highlights the work of students from 10 Boston Public Schools from grades K-12. It was made possible through the generosity of the Gary Silverstein Memorial Fund. Student exhibitor Emily Palencia said the act of creating art allows her to express her feelings. Teachers who participated in the project said that when students see their work professionally framed and hanging in a professional gallery, it boosts their self-esteem and inspires them to look forward to more art projects and other ways to express themselves.
