Wheelock College celebrated its 125th Anniversary in 2013. As part of the College’s yearlong celebration of this important milestone, Wheelock gathered national and international educators, practitioners, researchers, philanthropists, students, and policy leaders to explore pressing issues affecting children, youth, and families in education, health, and human rights across the globe. Thus the College’s 2013 Global Challenges and Opportunities Conference addressed three strands of importance to the global community: education, health, and human rights. On July 19, 2013, Singapore endorsed its commitment to guaranteeing equal rights for its residents with disabilities. This is a welcome move and a significant change in policy direction for the city state, which augers well for all Singaporeans.
