Join our Summer Reading Community

We invite our alumni, students, faculty, and staff to join our Summer Reading community! This year’s selection, distributed to incoming students at First Year Introduction, is Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel Americanah. Read at your own pace, or join us on a six-week, six-part reading schedule. This week we’ll take it easy with part one, pages 1-44.

The book received the 2013 National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction, was selected as one of the 10 Best Books of 2013 by the New York Times Book Review, and was shortlisted for the 2014 Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction of the United Kingdom. A very contemporary interpretation of a coming-of-age novel, Americanah will offer our community, especially first-year students, an opportunity to reflect on our own paths to education, love, and careers in a global context.
