What’s Your Major? Social Work

Chelsea LeClerc, part of Wheelock College’s Class of 2017, is majoring in Social Work. Chelsea entered college thinking she wanted to be a teacher, but says her first-year field placement in the Jumpstart program showed her that her real strength was in working one-on-one with at-risk children rather than being in charge of a full classroom. Her goal is to work in the healthcare industry, focusing on children and families from low-income, minority, or vulnerable populations.

“There are lots of opportunities through my papers, writing assignments, and readings to really make my own career out of my BSW degree,” she says. “I want to work with children, just not necessarily in an educational setting.”
