Women's Basketball Gives Back at the St. Francis House

On Sunday, January 10th the Wheelock Women’s Basketball team had the opportunity to volunteer at the St. Francis House in Boston.  The St. Francis House provides shelter and rehabilitative programs for the poor and homeless. In addition, the kitchen serves more than 300,000 meals a year.

The team arrived at 9 a.m. to begin preparing for 11:30 lunch.  The women were put right to work until 1:00. The kitchen and dining room responsibilities consisted of cutting fish and meats, cleaning dishes, serving food, stalking shelves, and mopping floors after the lunch service.

Head Coach Missy Taversi said later, “The directors and kitchen staff at the St. Francis House were wonderful to work with and we appreciate the chance to be a part of their tremendous work in the Boston Community.”

The Women’s Basketball team is having a great season! See their schedule for upcoming opportunities to show your support!
